Description:
Brookdale Cottage is a charming thatched cottage situated in the heart of the quaint village of Hilton which is nestled in the hills above Pietermaritzburg.
We offer comfortable thatched en-suite accommodation in Rose, Bramble & Briar Cottages, which are situated in an attractive, tranquil garden with a swimming pool.
Bramble Cottage: This is the two-bedroomed cottage. The main bedroom has a king sized bed or can be changed to twin mattresses (whichever you prefer?) The second bedroom has twin beds plus there is a loft room with twin beds. There is also a junior bed suitable for a child up to 4 yrs old and a cot. Linen is provided. There are electric blankets on all the beds in winter.
There is one bathroom with a bath and a shower over the bath. Towels are provided but please bring your own swimming towels. The toilet is separate.
The comfortable lounge/dining area is provided with television and there are bedside radios in the bedrooms.
The kitchen comes fully equipped ? stove, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, cooking pots and pans, crockery and cutlery.
The cottage is serviced daily.
Outside in the little fenced off garden there are braai/barbeque facilities.
Rose Cottage: This is a one-bedroomed cottage with a Queen sized bed (if you prefer ?twin? beds then we can put a single bed into the room to give you two beds) ? linen provided (electric blankets in winter) - television and bedside radio. The en-suite bathroom has a bath with a shower over the bath ? towels provided but please bring your own towels for swimming.
A baby?s cot is available on request.
Off the bedroom is a small kitchenette suitable for preparing simple meals. There is a small fridge, microwave, hotplate, electric frying pan, toaster and kettle, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery.
The cottage is serviced daily.
Outside there is a little fenced off garden ? braai/barbeque facilities on request.
Briar Cottage: This cottage is semi-detached and has it?s own entrance.
There is an interleading door with access to the main homestead but this is usually kept locked. It has a main bedroom with either a king size bed or twin beds (whichever you prefer), television and bedside radio, en-suite bathroom with bath and cubicle shower.
There is also a small bedroom with a single bed and a pull out bed ? only suitable for family use as there is only the one bathroom off the main bedroom.
A baby?s cot is available on request. Linen, electric blankets in winter and towels provided ? please bring swimming towels.
There is a small fridge in the main bedroom, kettle, toaster and crockery for making tea/coffee.
This is not really a self-catering cottage as there is no kitchen but you could have cereal and toast in the morning if you do not want us to serve you breakfast. The cottage is serviced daily.
There are restaurants within 2 kms radius and 2 small shopping centres, a railway museum at the old Hilton Station with vintage steam trains, and two wetland areas which abound with birdlife.
Historic Pietermaritzburg and Howick are a 15 minute drive away and the coastal city of Durban a one hour journey. Nearby Midmar Dam offers yachting, fishing and bird watching.
