Description:
Conveniently located at the foot of the Baviaanskloof Mountains, south of Steytlerville, Dan's Den 4x4 Lodge is the perfect base for the young at heart and energetic to indulge themselves to the full in outdoor activities.
Popular with four by four, off-road motor cycle and quad bike enthusiasts, the area offers a variety of exciting and challenging Eco friendly two-day off-road trails for both the novice and the experienced driver.
A newly constructed obstacle course is available also for non standard and specialized off road vehicles. Come and test your limits!
The farm is situated on a scenic trail which climbs the Baviaanskloof mountains, drops to ford the Groot River and then rises to follow the crest of the Elandsberg. The route offers spectacular vistas for miles.
Hikers and mountain bikers can choose the degree of difficulty which suits their energy and skills on various farm trails as well as on the little used Groot Rivierpoort road between Patensie and Steytlerville.
Game/Agri-tourism
Doornkroon, the farm on which Dan's Den is located, is a working goat and sheep farm and visitors are welcome to explore the workings of the farm.
The area also offers prime examples of rare plant species, game viewing and hunting and last, but not least, there is san rock art to be seen.
Hunting packages for both the trophy and biltong hunter is available upon request.
Your host, Daniël Vogel grew up in the area and places his experience and knowledge at your disposal to ensure an unforgettable experience.

Stay in the homestead or, if you prefer life in the bush, take advantage of one of the many scenic bush campsites.
Dan's Den, the friendly and funky little pub, offers stacks of atmosphere, good company, swimming pool and bar games.
At the end of the day Danie prepares traditional farm meals before guests turn in for a well earned rest.
