Bullsport Guest Farm
Description:
One of the oldest farms of Namibia - 250 Km southwest of Windhoek -
is rich in history, wild & bird life, Flora and Fauna. The fascinating Naukluft Mountain range invites you to discover the hidden riches on foot or on horseback....a true hiking and horse-riding paradise.

Quiver Trees, clear Rock Pools, Mountain Zebras and the rare Klipspringers introduce you to the smaller detail of beautiful flowers and the bird live. We present breathtaking excursions
on to the Naukluft Plateau in our Game-viewing vehicle. The well-known hike through the Quiver-tree Gorge follows this drive.

The activities at BuellsPort are rounded of by a wide selection of hiking and horse riding options. For full day excursions you may choose to visit Sossusvley & Sesriem or do one of the hiking trails in the Namib Naukluft Park - The Olive Trail or the Water-
Kloof Trail.

For the really daring there are longer trekking options from three up to eight days. The NAUKLUFT 4X4 Trails is there for those who want to test their off-road experience. The guest farm offers one 4-bed-family room, one triple room and six double/twin rooms all with en-suite facilities and a crystal clear pool, a library, a self-
service bar, a large garden with safe parking.

The afternoon coffee and cake and wholesome cuisine is offered at the big family table before you are taken out on the afternoon game & nature drive. We have more detailed information on the following pages. Please continue to enjoy.

NAUKLUFT - Splinters of a lost paradise
High above the desert of Sossusvley the NAUKLUFT massiv harbours splinters of a lost paradise in ravines and valleys with clear-water springs, streams, waterfalls and rock pools, where trees and shrubbs form evergreen thickets.Built of enormous sheets of limestone and dolomite of older strata, the mountains hold water below the ground in aquifers, hollowed over the ages as rainwater seeped through. The NAUKLUFT is a paradise with over 120 bird species,Hartmann zebra's and Klippspringer the rare species to be found, facinating geology and landscapes with a very broad spectrum of plantlife.

Naukluft 4x4 Trail, this trail offers the offroader one of the tougher trails in southern Africa where you start at lunch time the first day and dirve to the overnight camp at Tjeriktik. The next day you drive to fantastic view points and decend the mountain to be back at the office at lunch time again.(This trail was well advertised and described in the GETAWAY some years ago when it was launched)
Waterkloof Trail -17Km's, approx.. 6 to 7 hrs hike, taking the visitor into a gorge with a fantastic fountain scenery with rock pools to cool off. This is followed by a rise up to the plateau from where the hiker descends to another fountain gorge.
Olive Trail -10Km's, approx.. 4 to 5hrs hike, taking the visitor up to the Naukluft Plateau with a fantastic view followed by a wild, rugged gorge closing the circle to the starting point.
The Eight -Day -Trail - Here there are options of doing either two, three, four or eight days to fit most hikers itinerary. This trail is one of the toughest trails offered in the southern Africa but surely one of the most rewarding for the serious hiker.
The Quivertree-gorge Trail is offered by Buellsport Guest Farm for the hikers who do not want to hike the full day. It takes the visitor up to the plateau in a 4x4, followed by a hike through the biggest fountain gorge in the Naukluft mountains with many big rock-pools to cool off and even more quivertree's.

Since we are in the tourism business we have found that the Naukluft has never been given his fair share of publication. Maybe this results from the general opinion that only the persons using the campsite, the Kudu restcamp at the start of the Waterkloof-trail, are allowed to use the trails. This is however not true. All visitors in the area that overnight at one of the lodges/ guest farms etc. may visit the Trails as day visitors!
