Things to do:
Grenadendal:
Genadendal, established in 1738, situated just outside Greyton, is known as the Valley of Grace and is the oldest mission station on the continent of Africa. It was started by the young bachelor missionary from the Moravian Church in Moravia (today part of Slovakia), Georg Schmidt, who formed a small Christian congregation and taught the Khoi (Hottentots) to read and write. Today there are over 3 500 registered occupants. There are many places of interest to visit including the Mission Museum, the Moravian Church, the Genadendal Printing Works and the old Water Mill.
Boesmanskloof Trail:
The Boesmanskloof Trail is reasonably strenuous and winds through the Riviersonderend Mountains from Greyton to Die Galg, 14 km south of McGregor. It passes through the Riviersonderend Conservation Area, which is a declared mountain catchment area comprised of state land and private property. The vegetation in the area is typical mountain fynbos with a rich diversity of plant species, mammals and birds. The trail is approximately 14 km which may be hiked within one day. A "there and back" route is a popular option otherwise transport needs to be organised accordingly.
