Die Kuierhuisie is a charming luxury self catering accommodation. Thatched Sandveld cottage or so called 'langhuisie' with 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The "Kuierhuisie" self catering cottage: Sleeps 12, tastefully furnished, en-suite bathrooms, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, fully service with fresh linen & towels.
The spacious rooms are stylishly furnished with collected cottage furniture and soft cotton drapes. Shady clay tiled verandas, invites the visitor to lays away timelessly.
Enjoy warm winter evenings in front of the big kitchen hearth or outside at the braai area covered by shady trees. Sleeps up to 12 people.
There are also outside braai-facilities nestled under a big tree. We supply mosquito devices in the house. The water is somewhat brackish, so guests are advised to take their own drinking water. The house is intended as a place where one should get your senses stimulated by the wonderful sounds of a small town and nature. We supply a radio and an arial for those who whish to bring their own TV.
Best times to visit:
March to August. During the first week of September for the annual half-marathon and Potato Festival.
The Sandveld is one of the main potato producing areas in South Africa. It is also what it says, mainly sandy earth and is therefore a challenging 4x4 area. Most of the smaller roads are dirt. The town of Redelinghuys is situated on the banks of the Verlorenvlei, meaning 'Lost Marsh', which houses a wealth of rare bird species. Almost 250 species are only found on the vlei of which the pelican is the most graciously admired.
Various hikes, mountain biking and 4x4 routes can be followed in this crime free area of South Africa. Meet the locals and hear their interesting stories or visit one of the San Art sites that are abundant in this area. Horse riding groups have been exploring this area for many years.
