Description:
Taylor’s Guesthouse provides top-class and convenient luxury in the Southern Drakensberg. We are situated on a working dairy farm on the outskirts of Underberg Village, which is barely a trout ripple away. The river banks, the open meadows and the pasture lands provide endless opportunities for country activity; including bird watching, tubing and canoeing, hiking, picnicking and swimming.
Experience the unique sights and sounds of farm-life: an early morning or late afternoon milking session in either of our two modern, fully mechanised milking parlours, or watch the calves being hand-fed and stroll between crop lands; our fields of maize and potatoes.
Taylor’s Guesthouse experience provides our visitors with a complete country encounter; marvel at panoramic mountain vistas, unwind and relax in the total seclusion and comfort of unfettered rural life. We supply all our guests with fresh farm milk, tea, coffee, sugar, home made marmalade, honey and biscuits, and fruits in season.
ACCOMMODATION:
FAMILY SUITE
A deluxe 2 bedroom family suite with private entrance, lounge with television, dining room, kitchenette equipped with bar fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster. Patio and braai (barbecue) facilities with access to garden and children's playground.
DOUBLE ROOMS
Four double bedrooms which can be reserved singley or as family units. Units are equipped with showers, bar fridges and hot beverage-making facilities. Please enquire about TV and children's cots.
BACKPACKERS
Backpackers room consisting two comfortable beds, a bed-side and central light and access to bathing and w.c. facilities.
BREAKFAST:
We provide a huge farm breakfast for all our guests.
TROUT FISHING
The pristine waters of the Umzimkulu river - perhaps Southern Africa’s finest wild trout water - meander through the farm, providing more than seven kilometres of premium fishing on your doorstep. The Umzimkulu is regarded by many trout afficionados as one of the prime trout destinations in the country. Visitors have access to both private and public waters on the farm. Early mornings and late afternoons into dusk, are the best times to cast a line into a tranquil pool where trophy rainbows lurk.
ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES:
Explore the richest repository of rock art sites in South Africa, in the threshold of the world Heritage Ukhalahmba / Drakenberg wilderness park. Access is through any of a number of KwaZulu Natal Ezimvelo-Wildlife entry points. The Underberg village provides the visitor with a host of facilities and modern conveniences. These include supermarkets, a tourist centre, medical facilities, hairdressers, gifts shops, outdoor and sports outfitters.
A range of guided tours and excursions are available to visitors. Everything from 4x4 trails and Sani Pass tours are offered by local tour guides. to complete sporting facilities for everything from bowls, golf, squash and tennis are available. Equestrian activities are well catered for. Guests may choose between horseback rides through the surrounding foothills, or attend polo and polo-crosse matches and other equestrian events.
