Fern Hill Hotel and Conference Centre is a landmark in the Kwazulu Natal Midlands. Situated just off the N3 highway and opposite the Midmar Dam and Nature Reserve, it enjoys a significant history.
Built in 1851, as a trading post by the Swann family, it became a trading post and boarding house in 1888 for the Trekkers that stopped off, before descending the treacherous Umngeni Gorge.
What started off as a small hotel, with only Six bedrooms, a small bar, restaurant and conference room, has developed to great proportions. Today it boasts Forty-Two bedrooms, all en-suite and a host of public rooms.
It has Four Conference rooms, Two restaurants, Two bars and a fully accredited Training College, for students wishing to develop their skills in the Industry.
The hotel is set in Twenty-Five acres of park like grounds, with water features, a Gazebo, Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Volley Ball Court and Braai/Barbeque Area.
Fern Hill Hotel has forty-two, elegant en-suite rooms, which will surely invite you back again. The accommodation offers family suites, cottages and executive rooms.

The 'Mandela Suite' was developed for the President himself and enjoys a sumptuous lounge.
It also has two adjoining rooms, with bathroom/shower en-suite, plus the suite can be served from a demonstration kitchen, that is built adjacent to it.
Fern Hill Hotel has two restaurants, The Snooty Fox and Cobwebs.
Between the two, they can seat over 100 guests.

In extending our services to you, at the end of last year, a garden gazebo was built and recently a free flowing buffet area was created. Both to ensure your time with us pleasant and efficient.
