At 'Gramadoelas Country Inn' situated on the outskirts of Springs, We chose a 'Wildlife' theme unique to Africa, to regenerate the
spirit of the weary traveller - whether it be for business or leisure - to be one with nature during our long sultry African nights.
Every room is uniquely named after bird species.

The word 'Gramadoelas' originated in approximately the early 1800's during the Cape colonial period, describing the wild, unexplored, unknown African bush beyond the known frontiers.
It is neither English nor Dutch but a unique word which spontaneously developed amongst the more adventurous to describe the wild unknown, similar to the 'Wild West' in the Americas.
The founders of 'Gramadoelas Country Inn' hyperbolically used just that word or name to accentuate the contrast between the past so-called 'Wild' and the present warm Cape Dutch architecture and luxurious interior and surroundings which the Guest House have to offer the weary traveller
