Description: Honeywood Farm borders the wild and wonderful Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve up against the Langeberg Mountains. It is a nature lover's paradise and offers hiking, mountain biking, birding, horse riding, and swimming in rivers and pools all in a peaceful and secure environment.
Honeywood offers a variety of different types of accommodation. It has a Bush Camp and isolated Cottages in the hills for those who want to break away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Cottages are fully self-contained but not serviced.
Woody's and the Hunter's Lodges are probably our two most popular cottages. They are fully equipped so all you need to bring is your food.
They are described as one of the most romantic spots in the country. Woody's is a restored woodcutters' cottages dating back to a period when Swellendam and it surrounding area provided timber for buildings in Cape Town.
It is is an isolated gem, as a result the tracks to them are not suitable for very low vehicles - a 4x4 is ideal but normal saloon cars reach the cottages easily in dry conditions. If necessary we take groups across but most prefer the challenge of the farm track.
Jack's and Laila's cottages: Each have three bedrooms and are close to the horse training ring.
Scattered around the main farm house are other cottages.
Jack's has three bedrooms and is close to the horse training ring. Jacks's has a deck around it overlooking another gorge
All Cottages have an outside sitting area in Summer and fireplaces inside for cold winter's nights. Wood is provided for these fires and for cooking on the coals if you wish to braai. These cottages are grades.
Oakvale Cottage: Oakvale is the largest venue boasting five bedrooms and three bathrooms with a spectacular view down a gorge towards the mountains. Large beams in the living room make this a spacious meeting place for families and friends.

Coral, Quince and Clover: Coral and Quince are alongside each other - each with two bedrooms, living room and small kitchen. Clover is a quaint cottage next to Jack's which also has two bedrooms and one of the best views on the farm.
At Honeywood Farm, you are able to take part in the following activities...art courses, beekeeping courses, mountain biking, birding, horse riding, hiking and guided nature rambles.
The farm is a member of the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy, which contains large areas of mountain fynbos, Knysna type forest and some rare examples of unspoilt renosterveld or Themeda grassland. Beyond the Nature Reserve lies the Boosmansbos wilderness area; one is of the best protected areas in the country.
Travelling time from Cape Town is about three hours so it is an excellent destination in itself,or a suitable stop off on the way up the Garden route. The sea at Witsand is only 40 minutes drive and over the mountain through the Tradouw's Pass is the succulent Karroo and the quaint town of Barrydale on the Route 62 towards Oudsthoorn.
