Description: Welcome to Noorspoort Guest Farm and B&B! Our historic farm, named for the succulent ?Noors? has opened its doors for tourists and others interested in eco-tourism.
We have so much to offer that it is worth your while to stay here for a day or longer.
Noorspoort can be your spot in Africa for game-watching, bird-watching, hiking, camping, fishing, participating in everyday African sheep-, angora-goat- and geese-farming, or just lazing in the sun around the homestead and the pool.
Our aim is to introduce you to farming or ranching African style on Noorspoort, the 150 year old homestead, to tickle your palate with local cuisine at our a la carte stoep restaurant, all while enjoying the stunning surroundings and wildlife in a setting never to be forgotten.
Professional aromatherapy and massages are available.
We offer six en-suite rooms in our Colonial farmstead. All beds have the famous Makoti Down Products non-allergic goose down duvets which are covered with 100% pure cotton percale. Sleeping just does not get cosier than this! The down for the duvets is processed right here on the farm - a unique goose farming tour is available. A self catering house is available with a stunning Karoo view.
Noorspoort lies five kilometres north east of the picturesque town of Steytlerville. Steytlerville has many lovely Victorian and Edwardian houses that withstood the onslaught of modernisation and will remind you of a by-gone, elegant era. On the pass to town is the Valley of Flags depicting South Africa?s history in the form of painted flags on the cliffs.
Steytlerville lies in the Baviaans Wilderness Area and is one of the portals into this vast wilderness area with its amazing craggy ravines, snaking riverbeds and a plethora of indigenous plant life, animals and birds. Our area boasts three converging biomes (Karoo, valley bushveld and fynbos) and because of its diversity over 200 bird species have been recorded.
One of our main attractions is the geological wonder of Draaikrans (twisted cliff). Here is a prime example of how the geological Cape Folds developed and pushed and twisted the rock formation in a way that is truly worth while seeing.
We offer game-viewing, riding high and safely in our Unimog, the ultimate 4x4 machine. Tours into Baviaanskloof are available for 1,2 days or more. You contact us and we?ll put the package together. Sunset/Champagne drives are available as well as picnic walking trails. For the picnic walking trail you stroll along a bush path with a guide along the Groot Gamtoos river, all while being told of the local fauna, flora and history. After an hour or so a picnic is served next to a tranquil pool in the river. Upon returning to the homestead you can cool off in the pool.
For those more into camping, we offer a boma next to the Groot Gamtoos river. Bring your tent and camp away in real Africa in style. The silence and stars at night would amaze you as much as the abundance of kudu, steenbuck and duiker.
For further information or reservations please contact Samantha or Theresa at 049 835 0001, or Danie at 082 55 333 44. Fax no. is 049 835 0001.
To get to Noorspoort from Port Elizabeth follow the R75 until Wolwefontein and turn left on the R329 to Steytlerville. Five kilometres before Steytlerville you will see our big sign. Here you turn right on the gravel road. Noorspoort Guest Farm lies 800m further on your left.
