Description:
Olive Grove Guest Farm, Beautiful from dawn to dusk, lies at the heart of the Karoo. Situated in true Karoo "veld", our lodge built in Karoo style offers traditional Karoo cuisine - making this an experience of true South African hospitality.
Olive Grove Guest Farm offers 7 luxury chalets with fully equipped kitchens. The spacious chalets sleep 4-6 people.
These are located close to the swimming pool and old farm dam. Braai/Barbecue facilities are available privately or communally.
Chalets are equipped with hot blankets, heaters and fans. We take pride in the cleanliness of our accommodation, the staff are friendly and neatly dressed - service of chalets on request.
For the newly wed a honeymoon suite is available - allowing privacy and a romantic breakaway from the city.
A variety of classic country meals are prepared: Candlelit dinner in the dining room. Potjie/Braai/Barbecue in the Boma. Breakfast on the verandah. Meals must be arranged in advance, please.
Braaipacks and wood are available, our homemade wors in "Braaiwors" and "Plaaswors" varieties are always a hit with our guests.
Ideally prepare your own meal in the equipped kitchen of your chalet.
Our farm is almost 7000ha in extent and has a game camp with Springbuck, Blou Wildebeest, Blesbuck, Kudu and small buck. The farm also has Ostriches and plenty of Tortoises.
Exploring: Guests who are 4x4 enthusiasts are welcome to explore our farm roads. Mountain bikes are also welcome.
The walking trail - "Porcupine Trail" is complete with bird hide, beautiful scenery and a lot to learn about the Karoo vegetation and flora. The farm is littered with fossils, millions of years old, guests have already found and identified numerous pieces.
The beautiful Meiringspoort is 95km away. Guests can enjoy a picnic basket at one of the picnic sites, walk to the waterfall or take a refreshing swim in the pool below.
The Swartberg Pass is still in it's original state,built by prisoners. The road is gravel and in a good condition with breathtaking beauty which is worth seeing - this can be combined with the trip to Meiringspoort.
Our rustic hunters camp is an alternative to our chalet ccommodation and can sleep 6-8 people. Wood and water is supplied - all else is each hunter's responsability. ur hunting motto: Hunt ethically and
enjoy the Great Karoo, it is the land of enchantment. Processing of meat can be arranged.
Swimming pool facilities include a thatch lapa for shade and socializing, included are Braai/Barbecue/Potjie facilities.
Stargazing in the Karoo is a must. Central lounge with DSTV.
