Description:
Sandveld Country Cottages form part of Uitkyk, an operating family farm approximately 55 kilometers from Piketberg on the road to Elandsbaai, or two hours' drive from Cape Town.
Situated on the slopes of the Driefonteinberg, covered with unspoilt Fynbos and a large variety of Proteas, the cottages command a magnificent view across a vast open plain surrounded by mountain ranges. Birding in the area is excellent, both at the farm and at the nearby Verlorenvlei.
Steenbok, Duiker, Klipspringer, Grey Rhebuck, Porcupine, Bat Eared Fox and many smaller mammals occur on the farm.
The four cottages each have a main bedroom with double bed and two additional bedrooms with two single beds in each. Full bedding is provided. The large lounge, comfortably furnished, sports a log fireplace which in winter will turn even the coldest night into a very romantic evening. Firewood can be purchased on the farm.
The kitchens are well equipped with all crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc. There are good braai facilities. There is a swimming pool, and a dam nearby.
You should bring your own towels, wine glasses, fire lighters and insect repellent.
The cottages are a good place for family assemblies and club outings, especially if all the cottages are booked for the occasion.
Farm activities: Uitkyk is an operating farm. We have a flock of merino sheep. There is a citrus orchard and we plant and reap lucern.

Children: R60.00 per night
Dogs: R30 per night (by arrangement only)
Rates are negotiable for large parties and longer than 3 night stays.
