Jenny & Kobus offer you home-from-home hospitality at Sani Manor which is an easy 2-hour drive from Durban, or 1 hour from Howick, on a tarred road all the way to our front gate. It is situated in the picturesque village of Himeville (5kms from Underberg) that nestles at the foot of the imposing Southern Drakensberg en route to the Sani Pass.
The newly built SANI MANOR homestead has been designed in the traditional South African style with a wide wrap-around verandah and beautiful cypress-wood floors throughout. It is set on a large level property with roses, azaleas, a variety of shrubs and a fruit orchard.
Whether you choose to visit during the crisp, snowy months of winter, or the warm, sunny days of summer, our well-appointed home offers you the ideal mountain getaway far away from the hustle and bustle of city stress. Weekend or mid-week excursions including guided hikes to San Rock Art sites, birding, fishing, hiking and 4x4 trips up the Sani Pass can be arranged on request.
Your daytime hours may be spent enjoying any of these excursions or exploring the countryside. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than being able to settle down around the huge log-fire on a chilly winter evening or enjoying a leisurely sundowner on the verandah to watch the shadows lengthen as the summer sun sinks slowly behind the mountains.
Sani Manor has three double (or twin) bedrooms each with en-suite facilities. One bedroom and bathroom has been specially designed for wheelchair use. All our beds are equipped with electric blankets and heaters are available for bedrooms and bathrooms.
Our home is perfectly level with no steps. A ramp has been built leading on to the front verandah to allow for easy wheelchair access from the parking area and garden.
Activities within the area: The district with its 60km of river frontage is famous for its trout waters & bass dams.
Take a 4x4 trip up the awe inspiring, world famous Sani Pass and enjoy a drink & snack during your visit to the highest Pub in Africa. (Valid Passports essential)
Enjoy superb hiking opportunities for both young and old. Experience the views, the peace and an exhilarating swim in a mountain stream.
Just sit in the peaceful surroundings and absorb the unsurpassed views of the mountains.
Visit San Rock Art sites. There are over 150 to choose from in the Southern ‘Berg.
Join birdwatchers who come from far and near to see rare cranes and Bearded Vultures (Lammergeiers).
Come horseriding, mountain biking, river rafting & tubing and visit the historical Himeville Museum.
