The current owners, Don and Wendy Attwood have handed over the lodge to their daughter Susan and husband Peter Dean. Rawdons is 4700ft above sea level, enjoys an excellent climate and is situated among some of the best farming areas and horsestuds in South Africa. Antiques and nicknacks from all over the world add to Rawdons' old English charm and atmosphere. Once a guest of Rawdons, we know that we will have the pleasure of your company again on future occasions.
A la Carte and table d'Hote menus, self-serve pub-grubs, in a warm family atmosphere. We specialise in catering for weddings and other important occasions.
In the shady grounds of the Rawdons Hotel, you'll find a thriving independant brewery which has long been delighting locals and vistors with a range of naturally brewed ales and lagers.
TOADS REAST: No doubt about it, this fat little pond is loaded with buckets of shiny, healthy fish... and most of them trout too. A well-kept secret amongst locals, most with many a tale to tell, you can join in spending a merry hour with rod in hand and smile on jowls.
WHISKEY WATERS: Nicknamed Cupid's Corner, legend has it that men who catch trout in these waters will be married forever, within the year, to the woman who eats the fresh fish
NESSIE'S NECK: Some folk think they've seen a scaly horny monster lurking in the depths of this deep pool. To keep Nessie sweet always christen these waters with a drop or two of John Barleycorn.
In the grounds of Rawdons Hotel, beneath the the spreading trees, is a neat timber cabin known far and wide as Eric and Lorna Kennelly's "Home of the Fisherman". Fisherman, accomplished and aspirant, and those who have never picked up a rod in their lives, flock to this completely unique little emporium. Here you will find everything you will need, from rods and reels to Scotland's distinguished "House of Hardy" range of fashionable fishing accessories.
