Description:
Silver Hill Guest Lodge is a privately owned estate situated in the beautiful Kamberg Valley of the Southern Drakensberg. It is a mere 35 minutes from Nottingham Road and Mooi River.
The Silver Hill Guest Lodge consists of 3 self-catering units - Mountain Home, Mountain Chalet and Mountain Retreat.
Mountain Home: This unit sleeps 9 persons in 3 spacious comfortably furnished bedrooms, with fitted heaters for those chilly winter evenings. There are 2 modern shower/bathrooms. Bed linen and Bath towels are provided.
An indoor Braai/B.B.Q. area on an enclosed verandah provides all weather entertainment. The verandah is enclosed with glass windows, which lends itself to a magnificent view of the mountains.
The kitchen is fully equipped including microwave, fridge and freezer. The lounge/dining room area has a lovely fireplace and large sliding doors which lead onto an open verandah. Wood is available at minimal cost for crackling log fires to make those chilly winter evenings cozy and warm. SA TV is available with Mnet on request.
Mountain Chalet: This unit sleeps 5 persons in 2 spacious comfortably furnished bedrooms, with fitted heaters for those chilly winter evenings.
Bed linen and Bath towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped including microwave and, fridge. The open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, with a balcony, overlooks the estates own mountain and dams. SA TV and DSTV is available (bring your own DSTV card).
There is also an outdoor Braai/B.B.Q. area.
Mountain Retreat: This unit sleeps 4 person in a spacious open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, large windows and balcony with built in Braai/B.B.Q. area, overlooking the estates own mountain and dams.
The wonderful bathroom, with its large low level window, affords one the opportunity to relax and taken in the beauty of the berg.
Bed linen and Bath towels are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped including microwave and, fridge.
The Little Berg mountain range with Mount Cleopatra and Mount Erskin on either side provide the awesome backdrops.
This area is famous with Nature Lovers, Hikers and Fisherman alike and if you simply enjoy the peace and tranquility of the mountains then visit our paradise.
There are many activities to keep the energetic going and for the more relaxed to simply sit and absorb the surroundings is awe-inspiring.
Enjoy trout fishing in our dams or in rivers and streams that run abundantly through the estate. Small waterfalls cascade in the higher grounds of the mountain slopes and little springs pop up in unexpected places. There are five dams on the estate and a new wetland project is under way. The estate also boasts its own mountain and natural forest.
Have a picnic or Sundowners on the banks of the river, around a wood fire. Enjoy the sounds of the river gushing over the rocks into rock pools. In summer this is a fun spot for a quick dip to cool off or swim.
Take a stroll down to our new wetlands project or along the many trails on the estate.
A hike up the mountain will lead you to breath taking views of the Kamberg Valley. Along the way there are numerous types of Flora and Fauna, animal life, buck and Eland to look out for. Also resident in the higher lying regions of the mountains are the Mountain Baboon.
