Description:
Hops Hollow Country House and Brewpub is situated on the highest point of the Long Tom Pass, 22 kilometer from the town of Lydenburg, and 34 kilometers from the town of Sabie.
Being stationed on nature reserves for seventeen years, Sarie and Theo have had a constant flow of friends and relatives who have stayed over. Out of this experience the idea to combine their love of cooking with Theo's passion for brewing gave rise to the concept of Hops Hollow Country House and Brewpub.
Theo is formally trained as a nature conservator and prefers to work with the small and furies or the birds and butterflies. Sarie started cooking at the age of eleven and will spoil anyone rotten if given half the chance. She likes to experiment with beer and beer products in the day to day food that is served at Hops Hollow.
Our comfortable, sumptuous and beautifully appointed bedrooms are all en suite. Here at Hops Hollow, we strive to make you feel at home, and invite you to relax and enjoy the positive energy of our home.
Upstairs, we have two double rooms leading off a large comfortable TV lounge. Each room has it's own private bathroom with bath and shower and coffee making facilities.
Our downstairs suite has it's own private access from the veranda. This beautifully appointed room and bathroom has facilities for the handicapped.
About the Brewery:
This micro brewery is situated at the highest point of the Long Tom Pass between Sabie and Lydenburg. Although the first beer was only brewed during February 2001, the initial concept and planning started in 1993. Beer brewed at Hops Hollow Brewpub is a combination of the brewer?s experience, scientific background, artistic flair and passion for his craft. As each batch of beer is handcrafted the outcome is not always predictable. For those amongst us that feel secure with the mundane this may seem to be a shortcoming, but to the real beer lover it is a constant source of enjoyment as each batch has changing nuances, providing great pleasure and enjoyment to the connoisseur.
