Forest Creek offers Luxury accomodation at the main lodge, or self catering cottages down to a Hikers cabin with 9 bunk beds and camp site, we have tried to cater for all!
High up on the solid rock face of the Mpumalanga escarpment is a gorge which rips straight into the rock. The gorge is softened only by a blanket of shrubs and trees which have grown in this malaria-free zone over millennia, watered by the boulder-strewn creek that bubbles with the purest, cleanest water imaginable.
The site is a mere 8km off the Bambi Hotel/Lydenburg road that traverses the plains as the escarpment drops to the Lowveld. Off this road lies the big Kwena Dam and a sole koppie (hill), and it is directly opposite this that one climbs up, up and up, almost into a wall of cliffs which often disappears into the mist.
It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the steep, rock-strewn grassland is left behind, and one enters this little enchanted world.
The mystique of the place is tangible. Following a designated trail deeper and deeper into the gorge, totally enveloped in mist and under a thick canopy of trees, a strong feeling of peace will overwhelm you.
On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from Luxury guest suites at the main lodge to self-catering cottages and a hikers cabin with campsites. There are various hiking trails for the ardent hiker and for the not so fit.
Forest Creek Lodge is a haven for honeymooners - celebrating your first, fifth or fiftieth, you will be enspired by the romance of this incredibly exclusive place.
Fully catered and self catering accommodation.
Built in rock hewn from the surrounding hills, a magnificent lodge-under-thatch has been constructed with views of the gorge and the surrounding cliffs and mountain, within earshot of baboon barks echoing down the valley.
Come spend a few nights in the totally sublime luxury of the stone suite's, built in one of the circles of this ancient stone-walled village, totally surrounded by indigenous bush and trees. The ambience is complemented by the beautiful interior design and opulence of the furniture and facilities.
There are three guest suites plus a double room for children next to the Swainson suite. You will enjoy total private access to the lodge. Two of the suites have huge bathtubs for two set in a bay window. And looking into the bush, an outside bush shower attached to the bathroom. These room's are totally secluded in indigenous bush, with their own private verandah, with table and chairs and large umbrella. The third suite boasts a four poster bed, small lounge area and a large bathtub surrounded by stone, Tea, coffee etc, kettle, hairdryer, and Forest Creek bath robes are supplied for your comfort in all suites.
You will dine on good country fare, full English breakfast, lunch and supper. Weather permitting we will cook on the braai. For those who wish to hike lunch packs are available. For those who have special diets, we request that you inform us prior to your arrival.
The games room, situated next to the lodge, has a pool table, dartboard, card table, small bar, huge fireplace, and other small board games. Even in the bush you won't have to miss "that important game" - DSTV, and cosy lounge suite are also available in the games room.
The braai area is large, set under a large cabbage tree in the front of the lodge.
Forest Creek boasts a huge fireplace. Weather permitting, you can enjoy your meals and drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the valley.

Self Contained House:
The house is situated approximately 150 meters above the main lodge complex.
It looks over the gorge and valley and has it's own private Braai and Entertainment area, fishpond and private garden.
The house is built from rock taken from the property, the house comprises of 2 bedrooms, (one en-suite, and a seperate bathroom, both support a bath and shower) Built in cupboards in both bedrooms.
Lounge/dining room with large bay window overlooking the gorge. High ceilings and a jet master fireplace. An open plan kitchen with built in cupboards.
Forest cottage and hikers cabin:
This cosy cottage is set next to the forest, and within earshot of the stream,with views of the mountains. Which comprises of one double room en-suite, and a separate small room which can accoodate one person. The cottage has a small fireplace in the lounge/diningroom and is fully equipped. There is a large outside braai area, with a table for a lazy breakfast, lunch or supper.
Forest hikers cabin:
Ideal for the Hikers. It is situated close to the Forest Cottage, and can only be booked in conjunction with the cottage. It comprises of 8 Bunk beds, shower and toilet. With the use of the braai area.
We also cater for small intimate weddings, a maximum of 22 people.
These take place outside under a huge cabbage tree (keipersol) overlooking the gorge.
We provide all the food and beverages, accommodation, and decorations for the function.
We would need to know your theme and discuss various matters, like menu, table decorations, flowers etc, and then we can give you a quote depending on the above.
There is a local florist who will come to Forest Creek and do all the flower arrangements on site.
We have aminister who will travel here to perform the ceremony, but that is entirely up to the individual.
Conferences:
We can accommodate 12 people for small conferences full board, prices on request depending on duration of stay and menu.
Fishing:
There are three dams available. One supports Brown and Rainbow trout and the other Bass. We are growing trophy fish so we are encouraging barbless hooks and release, but we do need for the pot!
